ICED GEMS is a fairly new, home-based business offering carefully made, creatively designed cakes and cupcakes.
It came into being through a mixture of three ingredients: my lifelong enjoyment of baking, plus redundancy from my profession as a lecturer, plus the crucial support and encouragement of my family and friends.
The key to its success I believe is the completely individual approach I offer to every client. By not taking on too many commissions I am able to pay close attention to the details in each one and can ensure that the result, small or large, is unique and special.
I have produced cakes professionally for businesses, friends and family and for charity events: no two jobs are the same but each one contains something of my enjoyment of what I do.
The time involved is of course crucial to the quality of the result and my pricing is set by costing this fairly to ensure the high standard on which the reputation of my business depends. It also covers the quality of the ingredients I use; I want to be sure that the cake you pay for is the one you would wish to make for yourself, without skimping on what goes into it. After all, they have to taste as good as they look!
My work is backed up professionally through my Level 2 Award in Food Safety. I am registered with the Local Authority as a food business and have a Five-star Hygiene Rating.
For quality control I do have some experts at home to keep me on track: one of my two-year-old daughter’s earliest words was ‘CAKE’!
